Greetings from your new librarian!

My name is Connie Pierce, and I am very pleased to be the new librarian at Ganns Middle Valley Elementary.  I was previously the librarian at Falling Water Elementary.  Encouraging students to develop a love of reading and books is my number one goal.  Students will visit the library weekly and will be introduced to books that foster their imagination and supplement their classroom learning.  Library activities include booktalks, reader's theater, book trivia challenges, library games, puppets, and more.  Students in grades K-3 are given the opportunity to serve as Detective Research.  A basic research question is given during the library lesson, and two students are asked to locate and share the answer with their classmates by the end of library time.  Students in grades 4 and 5 will expand their research skills by using the internet.  These students will learn how to apply RADCAB to websites in order to assess the value of the information contained on the website.

This year promises to be new and exciting.  Please continue to visit my webpage for news about the fall book fair, the Roadrunner Book Club, and new books arriving at our library.
